Delays in Bullion Delivery

In the past week, I have seen postings and received a growing number of reports of coin dealers selling out of physical gold and silver coins and ingots and having trouble getting in quick replacements. At the most extreme, a buyer in a western state was told by two local dealers from whom he has made purchases that Canada gold Maple Leaves and South Africa Krugerrands are now at least two weeks delivery after payment and that U.S. 90 percent silver coin could take as long as 4-5 weeks to get.

Shows Need Promotion to Be Healthy

Are "Major Coin Shows Doomed,” as friend and dealer Patrick Heller recently wrote? Attendance has been down at major shows but I see different and varied reasons. Foremost it is the economy. Most business is down. Attendees must watch their fuel, travel and lodging costs. Next we have the competition of the largest ongoing coin show: eBay. That is one big daily show, but where do those vendors obtain their material? At old-fashioned coin shows.
